Depression, Anxiety and Isolation

Depression and anxiety produces isolation in people:

These serious issues are now very common. You probably know many people who are taking anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medications. Naturally, a mental health issue that is the result of a traumatic incident will require professional therapeutic care.

However, let’s not minimize the stress that many feel due to the increasing demands of work, the pressure of economic uncertainty, or the worry of increasing violence in our society.  These stressors and pressures take their toll mentally, emotionally, and eventually physically.

Too often, many people turn to drugs and alcohol as coping mechanisms. Mostly because they do not see other viable alternatives. Meditation is often overlooked as too simplistic. Yes, it is simple but there is also a vast profundity to experience.

“Visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart.  Who looks outside dreams, who looks inside awakens.”

Carl Jung
